Augustana District Organizer to Preach Sunday at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Pastor Mark Richardson, one of the original signatories for the formation of the new Augustana District of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), will be the guest pastor for Faith Lutheran Mission Church, Eau Claire’s new LCMC congregation at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 14.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Pastor Richardson will preach on the Gospel lesson of “The Prodigal Son.”  He has served as pastor of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Dresser since 2004.  He previously served churches in Mounds View, New Brighton and Marshall, Minnesota and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Pastor Richardson is married to Julie, and has four children and two stepchildren.

Pastor Richardson is one of the original signatories proposing the development of LCMC’s Augustana District, which is dedicated to helping member congregations call pastors, developing published educational materials and worship resources, supporting a new seminary, engaging in world mission and evangelism, and supporting the development and establishment of LCMC congregations.  The Augustana District holds its constituting convention May 22 in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  Pastor Richardson will provide more information about the Augustana District during the fellowship meal after the service.  Other details about Augustana District can be found at www.augustanadistrict.org.

Faith Lutheran Mission Church formed January 13, and held its first service this January 31.  The church is the first in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

Anyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and fellowship time to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.  As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church will dedicate 10% of Sunday’s offering to the Bolton Refuge House, and another 10% to LCMC’s Seminarian Fund.
