Tomah Pastor Bill Rice to lead Easter Sunday Worship at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Bill Rice, pastor of a Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah, will be the guest pastor for Faith Lutheran Mission Church, Eau Claire’s new LCMC congregation at 5 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 4.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Pastor Rice will bring a message of Christ’s resurrection.  He is a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, where he served as a chaplain for 20 years, serving in Australia and Turkey as well as five different states in the US.  Prior to entering the Air Force, Pastor Rice served churches in Ettrick and Ridgeland, and he has been senior pastor at Gloria Dei since 2001.

Gloria Dei is currently affiliated with both LCMC and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  However, the Tomah church plans a vote next week to remove itself from the ELCA, which will happen if two-thirds of the members present decide to terminate its relationship.

Faith Lutheran Mission Church is the first in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

Anyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and fellowship time to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.  As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church will dedicate 10% of Sunday’s offering to the Lutheran World Relief, and another 10% to Interfaith Hospitality Network, which provides services to homeless families in the Chippewa Valley.
