Tomah Pastor to Lead Worship at Faith Lutheran Mission Church
Bill Rice, a pastor who recently left the roster of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to join Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), will be the guest pastor at Faith Lutheran Mission Church at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 13.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street.
Pastor Rice, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, will preach a sermon titled “An Exclusive Church – Only Sinners are Welcome!”  He serves Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tomah, and ELCA congregation that had a majority of its members vote in favor of leaving the ELCA, but fell short of the two-thirds supermajority required for withdrawal from ELCA.
During the service, Pastor Rice will install the congregation’s council, elected June 6th at a special congregational meeting.
Faith Lutheran Mission Church in Eau Claire is the first and only in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.
As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church dedicates 20% of its weekly offering to missions.  Sunday’s mission offering will go support Blessman Ministries, which serves children in South Africa through vision services and by building shelters for AIDS orphans, all the while spreading the gospel.
Anyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and congregational meeting to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.
