Former Eau Claire Pastor Returns to Preach at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Pastor Craig Nelson, former associate pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire, will serve as guest pastor at Faith Lutheran Mission ChurchEau Claire’s new LCMC congregation at 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 21.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Pastor Nelson, who served as associate pastor at Good Shepherd from 1984 through 1992, has been pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church of Minong for the past 18 years.  Pastor Nelson, the child of Lutheran missionaries, was born and raised in Japan.  After college in the US, he began his ministry as a missionary to Hong Kong.  Pastor Nelson and his wife Barb have six children, including a daughter who attends UW-Eau Claire.

A door offering will be taken to benefit the young people who lost everything they owned in a fire on Valentine’s Day at 310 Lake Street in Eau Claire.  As usual, the congregation will dedicate 20% of its regular offering to missions outside the church.  During February, that mission offering will be split between Feed My People and the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic.

Faith Lutheran Mission Church formed earlier this year, and is the first in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

Everyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the fellowship meal to follow.  Details aboutFaith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.
