Former Eau Claire Pastor to Preach Sunday at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Pastor Craig Nelson, former pastor at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Eau Claire, will lead worship as the guest pastor for Faith Lutheran Mission Church, Eau Claire’s new Lutheran congregation, at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.  The congregation, affiliated with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC), worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Pastor Nelson, who served as associate pastor at Good Shepherd from 1984 through 1992, will preach a sermon titled “Four Foundations to Build Upon.”  He is the child of Lutheran missionaries and was born and raised in Japan.  After college in the US, he began his ministry as a missionary to Hong Kong.  Pastor Nelson and his wife Barb reside in Minong and have six children

Faith Lutheran Mission Church in Eau Claire formed earlier this year.  The church is the first and only in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church will dedicate 10% of Sunday’s offering to Good News Jail Ministry in Eau Claire, and another 10% to East European Missions Network, an evangelical, inter-Lutheran mission organization that sends missionaries, mobilizes churches and networks believers in the former Soviet bloc countries.

Anyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and fellowship time to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.
