Minneapolis Pastor to Preach Sunday at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Pastor Gregory Lenz, pastor of Faith Free Lutheran Church of Minneapolis, will lead worship as the guest pastor for Faith Lutheran Mission Church, Eau Claire’s new Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) congregation, at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Rev. Lenz, who lives in Chanhassen, MN with his wife Chris, grew up as a “Preacher’s Kid” in Minnesota.  After attending Northwestern College and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Wisconsin, Pastor Lenz served Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) congregations in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  He served on the WELS Board of World Missions for 15 years.

Five years ago, Rev. Lenz was called to be pastor of Faith Free Lutheran Church, an Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC) church in Minneapolis.  He as been active in the WordAlone Network and the LCMC, joining LCMC’s Augustana District this year.  Pastor Lenz has three married children and three grandchildren.

Faith Lutheran Mission Church in Eau Claire formed earlier this year.  The church is the first and only in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church will dedicate 10% of Sunday’s offering to Lutheran World Relief, and another 10% to Eau Claire Interfaith Hospitality Network.

Anyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and fellowship time to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.
