Mission Congregation Expert to Preach Sunday at Faith Lutheran Mission Church

Pastor William Christiansen of Stevens Point, who has served as a developer of mission congregations, will be the guest pastor for Faith Lutheran Mission Church, Eau Claire’s new LCMC congregation at

5 p.m. on Sunday, March 7.  The congregation worships at The Lutheran Church of St. Matthew, 1915 Hogeboom Street, with a time of food and fellowship to follow.

Pastor Christiansen’s sermon for Sunday is titled, “Speak Gently, Tell the Truth, Be Brave and Yield to Joy!”  He has served as a pastor and mission developer in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as Mazomanie and Stevens Point in Wisconsin.  Originally a pastor in the old American Lutheran Church (ALC), he served in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (ELCA) and became a pastor in Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) in 2006.  He currently directs Christiansen Professional Services, LLC, an organization based in Stevens Point that provides consulting services to congregations in the areas of church development, transitional ministry and conflict resolution.

As a church dedicated to mission work outside its church walls to the greater community, Faith Lutheran Mission Church will dedicate 10% of Sunday’s offering to the Bolton Refuge House, and another 10% to LCMC’s Seminarian Fund.

Faith Lutheran Mission Church formed January 13, and held its first service this January 31.  The church is the first in the Chippewa Valley to affiliate with LCMC, a centrist, congregation-based Lutheran church body which recognizes Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life. Details about LCMC and its mission can be found at www.lcmc.net.

Everyone is welcome to attend both the 5 p.m. service and the meal and fellowship time to follow.  Details about Faith Lutheran Mission Church can be found at faithlutheranmc.org.
