Faith Lutheran Mission Church update

Forty-one people signed a document declaring the new beginning of the Faith Lutheran Mission Congregation, and its association with the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ on January 13, 2010.

We're still on track to have our first weekly Sunday service at 5 p.m. on January 31.  Our steering committee is already at work, as are many of the other task forces that attracted volunteers that night.  Our hope is to have a complete list of the working groups early this week.

Here are some things that are happening:
  • Bob Moore has taken the lead on developing the needed documents to put us in the position to take contributions and establish ourselves as a non-profit organization in the eyes of the state.
  • Roger Flaten has arranged a meeting with Church Mutual Insurance January 18 to explore what sort of coverage we might need and its costs.
  • Communication is happening with LCMC staff and board.  We sent the affiliation application in via e-mail Thursday, and it was received by Sharon McFayden in the LCMC offices.  Our information should be posted on LCMC's site --www.lcmc.net -- soon.
  • We continue to communicate with LCMC and other confessional Lutheran pastors about preaching.  Pastor Tony Stoutenburg, who joined us at our organizational meeting, has committed to one Sunday a month.  Pastor Mark Richardson of Dresser has agreed to join us every six-to-eight weeks.  There are at least three other pastors who have indicated an interest in helping us out, and we'll continue to explore those possibilities.
  • The anonymous giving estimates shared during the organizational meeting came out to annual giving of about $40,000.
  • The fellowship committee met already January 13th after the organizational meeting, and their planning is underway!
  • The steering committee plans to meet January 18th at 7 p.m. at the church, and will likely try to meet weekly for awhile.
If you have reports or suggestions, or you would lile to join us, or just have a question, send a note to EauClaireLCMC@aol.com.

Otherwise, keep us in your prayers, and remember, members or not, you're always welcome here.
